I received a B.A. in Kinesiology from Hope College, where I majored in Exercise Science and minored in Psychology. I worked in corporate wellness at The Wellness Center in Grand Rapids before pursuing my personal training education at The Fitness Institute International in Boca Raton, Florida. While in Florida, I had the privilege of learning under Juan Carlos Santana and his trainers at the premier functional training facility, the Institute of Human Performance. After returning to Michigan, I started valeo / personal training, LLC and focus much of my program design on improving functional strength, whether in the athletic setting or in everyday life. I’ve received numerous academic awards and athletic achievements as a four-year collegiate Track and Field runner and current recreational sprint triathlete. I am First Aid/CPR/AED certified, a Certified Personal Training Specialist (CPTS) with honors through the Fitness Institute and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
